ABOUT

Gavin Bard is a German American poet, novelist, and short story writer. Gavin’s writing was heavily influenced by the geography and atmosphere of his home city of Los Angeles, and is marked by an emphasis on the ordinary lives of poor Americans, the act of writing, alcohol, relationships with women, and the drudgery of work. A prolific author, Bard wrote thousands of poems, hundreds of short stories, and six novels, eventually having over 60 books in print. In 1986, Time called Bard a “laureate of American lowlife.”

Wait, no, that was Bukowski.

I’m a Temple University Journalism major with a minor in “taking as long as possible to graduate.” I found out I was talented at writing through internet roleplaying so my dork pedigree is well founded. I live the life of a starving artist who happens to be using video game journalism as his medium, am incredibly pretentious, drink a bottle of Wild Turkey on Hunter S. Thompson’s birthday and deathday, like my bars grimy and my girls even grimier, and generally avoid anything relating to traditional real world responsibilities.

This website is both an active blog and my portfolio. If you are interested in hiring me for work, email me at gavin@inanothercastle.net or call at (609)-975-9273 and we will discuss all those fun serious business things. If you aren’t interested in hiring me but, instead, want to ask me something ridiculous and have the question answered in this section, you can email me at the same address. I am also available for after dinner speaking and personal appearances at birthday parties.
